Short version: the only thing we collect is the email address you type into the signup box, and we use it to tell you when the site launches. We don't set cookies, we don't run analytics, and we don't sell or share your address.
This is SoCal (thisissocal.com) is operated by Hungry Passport Media, Inc., 4225 Solano Ave., Suite 631, Napa, CA 94558, USA ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect on this site and what we do with it.
1. What we collect
Your email address. If you submit the "Be first when we go live" form, we receive the email address you entered. The form also includes a hidden anti-spam field; if it is filled in, the submission is discarded. We do not ask for your name, phone number, address, or payment details, and you should not send them through the form.
Standard server logs. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data — such as IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL, and timestamp — to serve the page, defend against attacks, and keep the service running. We do not use this data to build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with your email address.
2. What we do not collect
- No cookies are set by this site.
- No analytics, pixels, session recording, or advertising trackers.
- No third-party fonts, scripts, or embeds. The page's images and styles are built into the page itself, so simply loading it does not send a request to anyone but our host.
- No account, no password, no profile.
3. How we use your email address
We use it only to:
- send you one message when the site launches;
- give you first access to the SoCal Weekend Guide when it is ready; and
- reply to you if you contacted us directly.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing.
4. Who processes the form
The signup form is delivered by FormSubmit, a third-party service that forwards form submissions to our inbox. Your address passes through FormSubmit's systems on the way to us and is handled under their privacy practices as well as this policy. If we later move to a dedicated newsletter provider, we will name it here before sending you anything through it.
5. Instagram and other links
This page links to our Instagram account. Following that link takes you to Instagram, which sets its own cookies and collects its own data under Meta's privacy policy. We have no control over and no access to what they collect. Clicking the link is the only thing that sends you there — nothing loads from Instagram unless you do.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until the launch list has served its purpose and we retire it — whichever comes first. Unsubscribing removes you from the list.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can unsubscribe from any email we send. Just write to us at the address below and we will act on it.
California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by that law.
EU/UK residents. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our basis for emailing you is your consent, which you gave by submitting the form and can withdraw at any time. You also have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to complain to your local supervisory authority. Our providers are based in the United States, so your address is processed there under appropriate safeguards.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We keep the amount of personal data we hold deliberately small — an email address and nothing else — because the safest data is the data you never collect. That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and changes apply from the date they are posted.
